Global investment markets are upbeat, global investors are prepared to throw caution to the wind and take on more risk, and emerging economies such as South Africa are experiencing wave after wave of foreign fund inflows. While this is currently a boon for investors, a few black swans have appeared on the horizon.
It may therefore be prudent to re-evaluate the situation and take note of the growing risks out there, especially considering the prospects for the global economy over the next few months. A new bout of risk aversion cannot be ruled out over the short term.
